The BCLA provides a Shared Catalog on an Innovative Interfaces technology platform for 28 institutions. The BCLA is currently using Innovative’s Millennium integrated library system. As a combined unit, more than 1.5 million unique holdings are represented reflecting almost 7 million physical and virtual items.
Oversight of the Shared Catalog is provided by the BCLA Shared Catalog Group, which includes all of the directors of BCLA libraries that participate in the Shared Catalog. The Group has established two standing committees to carry out ongoing work in specific areas: the Strategic Planning Committee and the Operations Committee.
The Strategic Planning Committee is made up of directors of BCLA libraries that participate in the Shared Catalog. This committee determines the vision, goals and strategies, and assessment methods the BCLA should employ to improve the Shared Catalog.
The Operations Committee consists of librarians and library support staff from BCLA libraries that participate in the Shared Catalog. This committee oversees the development and maintenance of procedural manuals, assists in implementation of products and features, investigates purchase of additional products, identifies training needs, and provides appropriate training opportunities.
