Through our web platform ACAConnect, the ACA facilitates ongoing dialogue through its many communities of practice and learning communities, networks of staff and/or faculty who share similar responsibilities, professional interests, or academic affinities. Presently, the platform hosts over 120 communities, including academic disciplines, administrative areas, and areas of special interest in higher education.
Joining ACAConnect is easy. If you been invited but haven’t yet joined, you’re already “in the system.” Go to the ACAConnect site, enter your institutional email address, select a password, and join the platform. Once in, you will have the opportunity to join a wide array of learning communities related to your professional interests and responsibilities. As you review the group options, you will see several designations. “CoP” groups are access-limited to only ACA staff or administrators working in these professional areas. If you work in any of these areas and seek membership, simply complete a request for membership, and we will get you added to the group. The other groups (“FLC” or no designations) are open to any ACAConnect member.
If you are a faculty, staff, of administrator at a ACA-member institution and have not received an invitation to join ACAConnect, complete the short form sharing contact information, and we will email you an invitation to join.
Once in ACAConnect, you may join as many open learning communities as you wish. Once you join a group, you can post questions and comments or share resources with other members of the community. Postings arrive to specific group members as emails, and you can set the frequency of when you receive your posts to your preferences (e.g., real time, daily, weekly). You are also able to reply to posts from the email without having to open the main ACAConnect site.
Our 33 member institutions share similar missions, student profiles, opportunities, and challenges. Together, through the collaboration, communication, and support that can occur with colleagues across our consortium, we can all be more effective in cultivating our students’ educational experiences and success.
