BCLA Governance Structure
The BCLA operates under the leadership of the ACA Executive Committee. The Director of Library Services reports to the ACA Vice-President. The Technical Services and Systems Librarian reports to the Director of Library Services.
The governance of the BCLA is divided between two groups, the BCLA Council of Library Directors (Directors Council) and the BCLA Shared Catalog Group. The work of these two groups is conducted by committees selected from ACA member libraries.
BCLA Council of Directors
The Director/Dean (or representative) of the library for each ACA member institution holds a voting seat on the Council.
BCLA Council Co-chairs
The Council is chaired by two members elected from the Councils, each serving for a two-year term that coincides concurrently for one-year. A new co-chair is elected at each Spring Council Meeting and their term will begin July 1.
Spring & Fall Council Meetings
The Council meets twice a year in the spring and fall to discuss and address the business of the BCLA.
- Hybrid Business Meeting
- A virtual attendance option for the business meeting session is provided for any Director/Dean who is unable to travel to the Council Meeting
- Any Director/Dean may have
- In-person consortial and professional development sessions
- Travel Support
- Lodging and meals provided by the ACA
- Mileage to and from the meeting is reimbursed for Council members serving on committees that meet in conjunction with the Council Meeting
- Requests for mileage reimbursement should be emailed to the BCLA Director
BCLA Shared Catalog Group
The BCLA Shared Catalog Group overseas the planning and daily functioning of the BCLA Shared Catalog. This group is made up of the directors of BCLA libraries that participate in the Shared Catalog. The Shared Catalog Directors will meet regularly, in conjunction with the BCLA Council of Library Director meetings. Additional meetings will be scheduled, as needed.
